It's like a subtle. Fuck you to Cameron. And then, uh, in one take of the motorcycle chase, Schwarzenegger accidentally hit Edward Furlong in the eye with the shotgun. And, uh, and they had to stop the filming and Furlong was kind of. Uh, apex mountain. Arnold Schwarzenegger. I'm going to say yes. I think this was it. I think you look at those four movies in a row. And then this one, and it was like, I would have believed him in anything. Even him being the governor of California, I would have been ready for. He was on the president's council of fitness back then. You know, like he was really, he was making those moves. My son said yesterday as we were watching this, he's like, dad, Schwarzenegger was the best bodybuilder ever. And then he was a big movie star. And then he was the governor of California. He said this to me like, I didn't know any of these things, but he was also really impressed. I thought maybe he was like, that's the, that's the path I want to follow. Maybe. Don't roll him out. Linda Hamilton. I'm going to say yes. Furlong. Yes. Robert Patrick. Yes. Robert Patrick running. Yes. James Cameron. Still. No, I still think it's Titanic. Yeah. What about, um, I think it's avatar. Stop it. What about Titanic? Titanic's the biggest movie of all time, but it's not. Avatar is. Avatar. I don't feel like avatar held like the content. I look, first of all, I haven't been problematic on this podcast, so I'm going to go ahead and be it right now. Okay. First of all, in game is shout out to my nerds out there. We took the title back. We always. Yeah, it's inflation. It's a, it's a fake title. We got the title, but, uh, but no, I, I still, I still think avatar is, but I'm just saying it to be contrary. Uh, Chris, insane asylums, apex mountain. Cause we have this and silence of the lambs. Oh yeah. And Hannibal Lecter. 91 is a great year for, what an insane asylum year. Plus we got to meet Migs. It's it, we, we, it took the title from one flew over the cuckoo's nest. Uh, how about chin ups? This, yeah. The Cape fear as well. Yeah. You have Cape fear and you have this movie same year. It's really a chin ups. Just like, just like also like the home gym really comes into, into play. Um, was this the apex of any actor in the history of movies sprinting? Have we ever done better? Did Cruz ever top Robert Patrick in this movie? Cruz would be the other candidate. Cruz is, why can, real quick, we really associate Cruz with running too. Cruz runs so much. He runs in every movie. He loves running in movies. He loves running in movies, but no, he never quite did it like this. It's menacing run. until we have Usain Bolt cast as like a cop in an action thriller where he gets to run in the streets of LA or something. Um, I would say, uh, pre CGI era, sci-fi. I would, I would, I guess. Yeah. I mean, I would, I'd say aliens and Star Wars or something like that. Yeah. So no. Yeah. Uh, how about arcades? Chris never got any better for arcades. Last star fighter. No, we like, I guess this is the, this is the peak. This is, I think the last time they were, they really worked in the arcade into a movie. Yeah. Cause it's like Tron last star fighter. Cause video games just take over at this point. And then people start playing video games at home. Yeah. Yeah. Nobody went to a fucking arcade in like 1995. Do you guys think that this is apex mountain for one liners? Hasta la vista, baby. Yeah. One, like for the sign off line, like the, the hammer line, and like, well, maybe, maybe matrix, maybe I know Kung Fu. I don't know. I feel like, I feel like I'll be back in hasta la vista, baby are like, yeah, it doesn't get much better. And I, I would say that this is for me in my lifetime, apex mountain for summer blockbusters as an event. So I would argue this movie created summer blockbusters because once it did so well, then that event, I feel like speed was the first intentional summer blockbuster where they were like, let's speed this up and we'll, we'll launch the summer with this movie. And then everybody's like, Oh, like, I don't know if that was, do you think that was really part of the strategy or was, because we talked about this during jaws. Jaws was the first summer blockbuster, but it wasn't intentional. A lot of people are going to pick the, a lot of people are going to pick the bone. Like that's the bone they're going to pick. But I, but to your, I think the summer blockbuster became something different. It became a mixture of a really good film with really good talent and this pre package pop culture sort of thing. Promotion of it. Yeah. The promotion, which is like, and we, we see this kind of go crazy, right? Cause afterwards, a couple of years from now, you're going to be a Batman movie is going to come out and you're going to have to get the commemorative cup from McDonald's and all of that stuff like that. Everything goes together with seal and kiss from a rose and all of that stuff. And I think T2 to me was the first time I felt like a movie onslaught. Yeah. That, that and Jurassic. Yeah. Jurassic park too. I don't know how intentional it was. I think, I wonder if we learn from this movie, Oh, that's the formula for now, how to do this going forward. Or if they knew this in 1990, I just think they spent so much money on this movie. It had to make the amount of money it made and they were going to do everything they could to make sure that this was like the only thing that people cared about. Schwarzenegger's in, he's in the, you could be mine video. Yeah. So like he's in the video at the end of Terminator shows up in the video. Picking nets. John Connor is only supposed to be 10 years old in this movie. I had a 10 year old boy three years ago. 10 year old boys are morons. I just don't think they would be this resilient and, uh, and smart and worldly and all this stuff. He feels like a 13 year old. It's a stretch. It's a nitpick for me. Um, and, and we covered this in the Terminator one podcast, but we learn in this film that Sarah was 18 in 1984, which is kind of like, uh, wait a second. What? She's 18 year old waitress. She's a waitress. She had her own place. Yeah. It seems like a reach. Uh, another nitpick. Why didn't they just send like 25 people back to protect John Connor? See, this is why I love this movie. Who cares? Okay. They never even, they never even opened themselves up. To this discussion. Like if you read the Cameron interviews, he's like, yeah, my idea is that they have this, like this demon that they can send back after the first one fails. So they send this guy back. And so then the, the response is to send back one guy who's been reprogrammed to protect John Connor. And it's like, it turns it into a Western where it's the good gunfighter versus the bad gunfighter protecting the kid. And you never even get into like timelines and like, well, okay, if Dyson knows, doesn't that mean that this doesn't happen the way it does? So then like, why would the Terminators be back here? Then wouldn't that erase the future? And it's like, no, man, it's like, it's just, it's just a really, really great story. Van, one of my favorite Chris Ryan's is purist, Chris Ryan. Pure. That's right. That's right. Stop overthinking this. Just enjoy it. Just get in your seat and fucking enjoy the ride, man. And to be honest with you, this is why as the Terminator, this is why this is apex mountain for the Terminator franchise as well. Right? Because as these movies go on, it's gets kind of hard to litigate some of these, these time vortex warped things, situations. And by the way, it's been, it's given us great sci-fi, but it gets, it just gets more complicated throughout the rest of the time that they make these movies. They keep trying to reboot it. They can never quite get back there. Two more small nitpicks. No cops were killed at the tech factory that Miles worked at during that shootout with a hundred million things getting shot at everybody. Then Arnold scans it with this thing. It's like human casualties zero. It's like, all right, maybe one person got hit in the neck by a boy. Do the Terminator movies invent first person shooter games? Maybe. I hadn't seen that done before. Me neither. The gun that he uses with the circle, the circular, circular motion bullets. The Van Lathan family rifle. Yeah. Yeah. Whatever that thing is. That reacts. Yeah. All right. Here's my big one, Van. If Arnold can't self turn, if, if, if Arnold's the robot can't self terminate, why would he allow Sarah Connor to terminate him? Aren't you still self terminating? You've told somebody how to self terminate you and you're still holding onto the chain and you're dying. Like, I think, I think he can't complete the action. I think he knew he had to self. Well, you know, I actually, I don't know because remember the mission objective changes and see, that's another thing. if he sent back to protect John Connor, is he sent back to protect John Connor specifically from the T-1000 or is he sent back to protect John Connor period? Because if it's period, then he should really stick around for the entire 120 years. That's what I'm saying, Chris. that he can live. But if it's just from the T-1000 and their mission objective has changed now to getting rid of Cyberdyne and Skynet, then he has to kill the chip in his head. So, I don't know how that's supposed to go, but he does kind of, you know, jump in the lava or whatever. He could have done the, I'm going to stand here and pretend I'm looking over here. Just shove me in. Right. Could this be remade as a 10 episode Netflix show? I think that the subsequent sequels have shown that no. Unanswerable questions. Probably unanswerable questions. Wait, Van, do you like any of the sequels? Yeah, he does. He likes Dark Fate. You like Dark Fate? No, I like, Dark Fate is okay,
